Hello, my name is Shonda Davis Pope. I am a science instructor at the 4C Academy, teaching Human Anatomy and Forensic Science. I am a native of Albany, GA, and my journey as a professionally trained biologist has led me to my true zeal as an educator.
My academic background includes an A.S. in Pre-Dentistry from Darton College, a B.A. in Biology from Columbus State University, an M.S. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University, and an Ed.S. in Secondary Education from Georgia Southern University. In addition to my role at 4C Academy, I am also an adjunct professor of Biology at Albany State University. With experience teaching at both K–12 and university levels, I leverage my expertise in biology and education to provide students with a solid foundation that smoothly connects secondary and higher education, preparing them to navigate complex STEM disciplines with confidence and competence.
My research interests include STEM integration and advocacy, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed pedagogy. My curriculum is grounded in STEM integration, and my purpose is to demonstrate to students the transferability of the skills they acquire in my course across various disciplines and real-world contexts. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and enjoy giving back to youth programs. I am a devoted wife and mother, and in my free time, I enjoy attending Sunday worship, watching C.S.I. docuseries, and cooking for my family.
